Who, Really, Are The People Calling My Office To Update Our Directory Listing Information?
I occasionally get these calls and they ask to confirm our business address and telephone numbers, but who are they with and why do they need to know this information? I am even more suspicious of these callers now because the most recent caller wanted to confirm that my telephone service was still with Bell South, and I beleive that by now they should know that Bell South is now AT&T. This caller also asked for my name, and then swiftly went through some kind of explanation about a free service and wanted to send me a confirmation fax. I tried to explain that i am not the authorized decision maker, but he insisted there would be no charge for this service. It was very unclear as to what service he wanted to provide to us for free, so once i was asked to hold i just hung up the line. He has since then called me back twice, and asks to speak with me because i had previously given him my name! Who is this calling my office, and what should i do about it?
